Why Larger Raw Tanzanite Crystals Are So Rare

Most natural tanzanite crystals are relatively small.

As crystals grow larger beneath the Earth, they are more likely to encounter fractures, pressure changes, and other geological events that interrupt their growth.

Finding a crystal that survives these natural processes while retaining attractive colour and crystal form becomes increasingly uncommon.

That's why larger natural crystals are especially prized by collectors.

Size alone does not determine beauty—but a larger crystal that preserves its natural character is always an exciting geological discovery.
