About the Stone — Tanzanite

Tanzanite is one of the rarest gemstones on Earth, found in only one location worldwide: the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania. This singular origin makes every crystal finite by nature—once mined, it can never be replaced elsewhere.

Naturally occurring tanzanite forms with complex crystal structures and distinctive blue-violet hues that shift subtly with light and angle. In its raw state, these characteristics remain untouched, revealing growth lines, natural terminations, and organic geometry that are lost when stones are cut and polished.

At Merelani Untamed, we preserve tanzanite exactly as it is found. Our stones are untreated and unpolished, selected for integrity rather than symmetry. Each crystal carries its own natural signature—no two are ever alike.
